AWWA, Base Hospital Delhi Cantt is committed to all round welfare activities for patients and families of its dependent clientele. It continuously strives to achieve excellence in providing comfort to patients and provides counselling on the prevailing health problems and current endemics.
The Base Hospital has established an AWWA Helpline, which provides counselling on topics like Disease prevention, Army placements, Vocational Courses, Empanelled Hospital, Desability Pension, Canteen Smart Card etc. A free lunch counter has been established for patients and their relatives
All efforts are made under the aegis of AWWA to provide a comfortable and aesthetic environment to patients in wards. Aesthetic curtains and bed sheets were recently provided to the family wards. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has a Display System installed for babies in critically ill conditions. Mothers’, whose child has been kept in the intensive Care Unit to provide care and prevent infection, can now see their baby through cameras placed, giving tremendous solace to mothers who cannot be in the NICU with their child. The Offrs Ward Kitchen has been renovated to provide quality dietary services to Officer patients. Yoga Classes are being held for patients three days in a week. On Childrens’ Day, the Paediatric Ward organized a Drawing Competition. This was judged by the Chairman AWWA, Mrs Vandana Chopra. Soft toys for children have also been procured from the Family Welfare Fund.
On the occasion of festivals like Holi and Diwali, celebration is held for patients. On important days of Medical importance, like the World Heart Day, Glaucoma week, etc. Special lectures and medical examination are provided to clientele visiting the hospital.
For the families of paramedical staff, computer classes, puppet shows, sports, recreational activities, demonstration on Handicraft work, medical lectures during Family Meets, are being organized on a regular basis. Special repair of the Asha School boundary walls with development of Arboriculture has been carried out for the welfare of special students
The Base Hospital, besides being ISO 9001:2008 certified in 2014, had been presented ‘Silver Salver’ on 17 Mar 2011 by GOC-IN-C Western Command and received Commendation by GOC-IN-C Western Command on 20 Jun 2013, for the excellent patient care imparted and yeoman service rendered by doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital.
